Re: Canister. Vacuum?

The evaporative fuel canister? It filters and returns gas vapor back to the tank. Thought you'd get a code if it was removed??

Re: Canister. Vacuum?

If you removed it you should get a ces light when its not hooked up and the ecm wants it active, but if your not getting the light, your ces light is bad (common) or just be happy it doesnt set it off, because its innoying.. Back in the day before I tuned my emmisions parts out, I literly took the ces light bulb out...(i dont recommend doing that!)

Removing it really doesnt hurt the car. Its emmisions stuff. I removed mine a long time ago with the egr, and air system when I was messing with the engine just becasue it freed up alot of room, which i really needed. But IMO theres no sence in taking off emmisions unless you despritly need the room, dont care if your mpg go down slighly(which is arguable), or dont have a sniffer test in your state.

Not just sniffer. In CA it's an automatic visual inspection fail.

Florida so no emissions here. Visual lol. The cops here are dumb I got pulled over for being too loud ( no cat ) and told him it was a v8 with a bunch of mods. He looked at the engine complimented me then said to drive slower to keep it down lol.

The light does work believe it or not. And I did not trash it I just kept it in my trunk.

So capped off. Vented gas cap and chip to delete that thing. Easy enough. Ill do my smog and egr before I get the chip burned

What county do they do visual inspections in? I'm in Orange and never once had a car inspected.

Theres no scheduled visual inspection but cops can look for them during a pull over. Then give you a fix it ticket. Fix it in 30 days pay x amount. Dont fix it and get xx amount ticket.

Re: Canister. Vacuum?

Um, the ONLY emissions control device on the car that will set a code is the EGR valve...

Unless you're running OBDII.

Had mine disconnected for years when the solenoid failed. Never threw a SES except for failed sensor codes.

Re: Canister. Vacuum?

A bad O2 sensor will also set a code, and is an emissions device.

As for the charcoal canister, I keep them. It saves fuel to be burned later (better mileage), and prevents the car from reeking of gasoline. I've been known to put them back into vehicles that have had them removed. And add them to vehicles that never had them.

Well worth keeping it. Can also do a relocate on it, either underneath the current location or into the fender between it and the wheel well.

RBob.

Belt is routed the same way. Just need a shorter belt to make up the gap difference.

For some reason i'm an idiot and can't figure out how to route it without spinning the water pump backwards. Every right up I see is for the v8s

Re: Canister. Vacuum?

Not sure if you can see it but its just routed a tad different. Its a tight fit above the top of the water pump but it works out ok. IIRC its a 82.5 belt??? Id have to go look to remember. I just remember getting a belt for a 2.8L without AC and AIR system at autozone.

This is from looking at the front of the engine:

Starting at the bottom of the tentioner.... go right over to the top of the Power S Pump, clockwise on the PS pump to the top of the Water pump, around the water pump counter clockwise then onto the crank pulley, clockwise around the crank pulley, then back onto the alternator, counter clock wise around the alt to meet back up with the bottom of the tentioner.

Re: Canister. Vacuum?

Yes that will work.

Opps didn't realize you still had AC. Sorry.

Just do a better job of blocking off the throttle body bypass if you do that.
