Pacesetter header hybrid question

Are the 2.8/3.1 Pacesetter headers good candidates for modifying to work with 34xx heads with D ports? If not which are? Also, what sort of power levels are the Pacesetters good for?

u can take a round file and or a die grinder and grind the mounting hole sin the flanges outwards 1/8th of an inch each and they will bolt on.

they are the best option for headers out there unless u can fab ur own

ur other option is to have somone like me build u a 1 5/8's primary long tube or midlenght header

Re: Pacesetter header hybrid question

Good to know. What about the power level they can handle?

considering i use the same 1.5 inch primarys on my turbo builds and they can flow enough for 500 hp im sure they will be fine for u

1 5/8's will give up a lil llow end but make better power on the top

Answer to the original question is that I have a set of 72-1206 PaceSetters on my 3100 hybrid right now. I just slotted the bottom hole right out of the flange. I also cut off the pass side EGR junk and welded it closed, putting the 3x00 EGR tube on the driver's side. Oh, and if you're considering a manual swap, there are issues with the clutch hydraulics (pipe is WAY close to the header and the slave bracket/heat shield needs to be replaced with a pair of nuts or the header won't go in).

I would venture a guess that project89 is right about the headers themselves being able to handle 500 HP, but I wouldn't count on the header system being able to handle it. First, the headers themselves aren't tuned or even equal length. Second, the crossover pipe is the choke point, being the same size as stock (2.25") to fit the stock catalytic converter (it's a pain trying to get the right adapter for the crossover pipe for the V8 converter!).

Re: Pacesetter header hybrid question

Anyone know if the OBX S10 headers fit a 3rd-gen?

Y-pipe is poorly designed but add in a flex pipe and it fits great.

Slotting the lower holes allows bolting to aluminum heads.
