Fiream,

Not to blast you, but think about the ablity of other to see.

Every time I pass someone with these lights it literaly blinds me. They may be the legal limit for brightness, but that law needs to reviewed and changed. In my opion they are entirly to bright to be consider safe for a street vehical (sp?). I now that at lest in California they are considering banning them. I support banning them all the way!!

I wish more people whould consider the safty of others before chosing to go with the brightes posible head lights.

Watch out for the law too.

BTW, although the lights look real good, there is no benifit in vision and actually might be a loss in vision because out eyes are used to the frequency of light that the sun gives off... very similar to light given off by regular halogen systems. Many of the "hi preformance" lights such as xenon, or super whites, etc give off a much higher frequency light which many of the times is irritating to the eyes such as florencent lighting.

Things just may "SEEM" brighter, just how cars SEEM to get faster when you put type-r stickers all over them.

But sure enough, they do look cool!

I hate when passing a truck with them. I'm in Tx, so there's a LOT of trucks, most of them about eye level w/ me when I'm in my car, so it really blinds me.

I'd recommend getting the PIAA headlight bulbs. Those are what I have in my 91 Firebird with the conversions. They are H4/9003 bulbs. They are blue/purple in color and they are bright as @#$%! PIAA headlights are DOT and SAE legal.

Here's how to adjust.
Drive the car into the wall. DON'T HIT IT LOL!!
Back it up, TWO CAR LENGTHS or a BIT MORE!
Now, adjust so they are exactly straight ahead.
Then, pretend there is a passenger side mirror on the driver side, on the wall.
Adjust slightly down, more dirver side and adjust down very slightly passenger side.
Go for a night time test drive.
Keep adjusting until you feel comfortable on the road.
I did this to my Firebird. When I got it, it was hit in the front end. I did this and it works VERY WELL!!

I use European Hella H-4's. They are the best.

Make sure the place you do this at is LEVEL!!

Trying wearing contacts lenses and having light glare in your eyes.
Saturn Daytime Running Lights are the WORST!!! I want to shoot them all out! They hurt my eyes so.
Being in my Corvette is really hard, so low to the ground.

Yeah, it's never brightness that blinds me; it's the aiming. 90% of these Joes try to remove the bulb by twisting the hell out of the adjusting screws until they fall out; then they see the bezel screws. But I still absolutely hate the tint covers! I'm so glad that "fad" seems to be dying out.

I just thought I'd add some info in here, since it's been dug up recently...

if you get the RIGHT bulbs, you won't blind other drivers.

the bulbs that luxury cars use are between 4300k and 5300k, and should not blind you...

it's when you see them in cheap cars, or aftermarket setups, or people who PURPOSELY get 10,000k bulbs (purple) who ruin the reputation of the HIDs.

I personally plan on getting the new lights as soon as I find a good reliable source... I don't know if those ebay korean transformers are any good.... I may just go find a used Philips ballost or something from a junkyard...

the tricky part is getting a good lense... the stuff on bmw/mercedes have actual filters installed in their lenses... that's why at different angles, you see different colors/brightnesses....
