Maf problem's
In about February I replaced the maf on my car with one from oreillys and I think it's whats been giving me problem's. I've had the distributor checked out and it's fine got a bunch of new stuff on there but it kept on dying when first started in the morning and would take 7 tries to get it to stay running then would have to wait for it to warm up or it would bog out when I'd give some throttle. Last night I thought I would unplug the maf and start it when the engine's cold so I just went out side and did so and It started right up still had the bog when given a little throttle. I remember MaverickzH1L saying he had issues with the maf from the part's store and I'm thinking that's my problem. Could it be this? I've already done a lot of work to it I've replaced quite a few part's because they looked weathered.

Once the engine is warm any kind of hesitation is gone but it will occasionally backfire through the intake

Compare the insides to the old one if you still have it. Both of my parts store MAF sensors were quite different from the AC/Delco, and, even with them being the same brand, were different to each other. Did you break the plastic elbow on installation? That's another source of a MAF problem.
Also check your timing. The only way to check the MAF without a scanner is to get a $70 DMM that does frequency reading.

I checked both of em and they look slightly different. There are wave's in the foil (don't know what it's called) on both.. I put the old one back on and eliminated any problem's after the temperature gauge needle moved just above the 100 degree mark. The people from Oreilly's wont replace the maf either because the computer magically made the warranty info disappear so I pretty much blew 68 dollar's if the maf is bad.

If the frequency film "foil" isn't flat, the MAF won't send a proper reading. My last parts store "new" MAF started out fine, and was replaced when it developed a frequency film that looked like a skate ramp and a code 33. In about a year and a half of actual running (about 2 years). Both of yours are junk. My first AC/Delco replacement, that I bought used off of someone on here, wouldn't run unless the coolant temp was high enough to actually register on the gauge, like yours is doing. That's one of the ways I can easily tell when it's time for a new one (other than the code 45 that usually comes with a code 33).
If you want to really be sure, get your hands on a Craftsman AC/DC clamp DMM and take a frequency reading between the output wire and the ground wire at the MAF...
