New Fuel pump-Arrived!

Just got my new fuel pump for my Camaro. That just leaves the Firebird!

Only about 2 hours into dropping the tank, just need to replace the pump and put it all together. Not bad for doing it my first time and with a makeshift car lift and no manual?

I'll take pictures of my progress so far (to show how easy it is to drop the tank, even without a lift). And a video when it's running again this weekend!

Re: New Fuel pump-Arrived!

I ended up having to drop the rearend more, remove the springs (to get the exhaust out). Tank is being a pain, but I had to leave in the middle of it to pick up my fiancee from work.

A weekend job, huh? So far, it has been two weeks for me... pump was on backorder.

At first it was dying when I came to a stop, and I thought it was a vacuum leak somewhere. Then it started hesitating a little, and running very lean on the top end. Eventually the pump just failed all together.

I got it all put back together today, took about 4 hours due to rain here and there. So, minus the rain breaks, another hour spent on putting it back together (including bleeding brakes and test drive).

Boy does it feel like night and day difference. It pushes A LOT harder on the top end now (what little it does push ).

On a side note, my dad is giving me his 3.4 longblock.

Re: New Fuel pump-Arrived!

I got the ACdelco pump: EP240. Works magnificantly! Unfortunately, I think this motor is about done, so I will need that 3.4 soon.
