MAT sensor

So I am getting code I believe 23 MAT sensor, was looking forward, and like an idiot read the wrong post, and was reading the v8 post and took off the plenum looking under there for it. Realized that ours in our 3.1's it is in the airbox so went looking well, looks like my airbox has about a 1/2 hole in the side of it where it looks like possibly a MAT sensor should be screwed in, my car was wrecked and they used an 89 front end to replace it so it has the tubing for the MAF but no MAT sensor, so i am guessing I need one of these what do you guys think, or is there a way to bypass or what.
thanks
Mitch

Re: MAT sensor

No one knows anything about the MAT sensor, called Advanced today looking for one and they said they never heard of it?
Please help, car is burning through the gas just sitting in the driveway trying to get it all tuned up after sitting 5 years.

Re: MAT sensor

It's called the Inlet/Intake Air Temperature sensor, for future reference, and it's about 15 bucks. Can you get the right parts to put the air box back together, or do you currently have a MAF in place but not working?

Re: MAT sensor

I do have the airbox with a hole in the side of it about the size of a nickel where i believe the Intake air temperature sensor would go, the maf sensor is also there but not hooked up as I dont have the hook up for it. Where do I buy this sensor? does advanced carry it?

Also another question on this, if you do a turbo set up, what happens to the Intake air temperature sensor, does it just hang close to the front, or is there another option.
thanks for the response I appreciate it.

Re: MAT sensor

To answer your question, yes, just about any auto parts store should carry the sensor in stock, as it is used on just about all GM vehicles that have fuel injection. And yes, the IAT goes into the bung in the side of the air cleaner housing.

As for the turbo stuff, I would think that it goes between the intercooler and the throttle body, but you would have to ask one of the turbo guys about that.
