speedometer

so started up the camaro after 5 years and i noticed that the speedometer is bouncing between 0 60 and +110, so from what i have searched around about this is the vss whatever the f*** that is. What is it, is that what it probably is, and how do I fix it.

Engine: 350
Transmission: 350 turbo
Axle/Gears: 3.73

I am guessing your car is stock which came with a 700r4 transmission. The VSS is yuor vehicle speed sensor which is located on the left side of your transmission. Check your wiring and make sure you don't have a short. after 5 years corrossion or an animal messing it up is possible. Autozone sells them for around $100.00, but I have seen them online for around $50.00
