Help with Mallory 6AL (#6852) Ignition Box install
Has anybody installed a Mallory HyFire 6 Ignition Box (#6852M) in their 2.8 FI ride? Im looking to confirm that my wiring is correct.
So far, I'm having an issue with the box not powering on correctly. It has 12V when the ignition is on but I have to unplug the smaller connector from the Dizzy (Ign module) and then plug it back in for the box to turn on..this is all while the ignition is on in accessory position. It's funky becuase this is the second Mallory box I have had. The first had an internal issue with the circuit board (according to Mallory). The first box powered on and functioned perfectly until the circuit board crapped out. I wired the second box exactly as I did the first box put am now having the powering on issue. Any help with wire colors etc. would as usual be greatly appreciated!

1st rule is don't buy Mallory as it china junk, 2nd rule is if you still want to, buy a summit box. Just a Mallory unit with a summit sticker on it.
MSD is the only way to fly but cost more.
I ask Dave Ray about Mallory once.
[ex lead engineere for GM who designed our Ign systems]
He said put your index fingers at the corners of your eyes, then hook your pinkes into the corners of your mounth, now pull the corners of your eyes and mouth and say Mallory.

Eep!
I use a MSD 6AL myself with a MSD GM blaster coil. I was using self cut msd cables until my 3rd cylinder decide to burn through the boot. Rather, the exhaust leak did and my lack of covering it up with a boot sleve. Oh well, time to make another.

Geez, I know Mallory is not the most expensive brand...Gotta go with what the wallet can afford. Any ideas how to fix the problem other than buy another brand and still have the unknown what wire goes where problem??? Anybody????

Not sure if this would help, but it's a start.

Re: Help with Mallory 6AL (#6852) Ignition Box install
I'm running Mallory 6al for about 4.5 months in a 65 327 82 camaro and the system walks very well. Wiring I ran the red wire to the battery with switch in between and black wire to the fire wall ground and the other red wiring small on it's wiring from the ignition switch., I did not like anything pulling from the battey when the car is off.
The switch install why - I guy was working on his car some how shorted out his MSD
box when he was installing a new sound system. Some wiring shorted and the fuse went. When he try to to the car nothing no spark to the plugs. Found the MSD box shorted out not sure what happen. He sent it back to MSD for repair the there cost to repair was $234.19 he went and bought a Mallory 6AL install it he said for $156.00 on line. And his motor is motor is making 4 hp more with new 6AL 465 hp 469 at 5800
rpm on the dyno. I was going to buy MSD at 1st but after what happen with him and the higher cost of the MSD went with mallory and save some money to.
