too bad his MIL is on and it doesn't look that fast...looks like a lot of wasted time, money, and energy to me. I'd like to see time slips so I can change my mind.

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
looks liek hes using a very small turbo, and aparently also stock injectors, i imagine its running lean as hell specially with the maf in the charge pipe.
he has it setup as a blow threw maf instead of draw threw
not to mention that tiny tiny intercooler hes got under there looks like a talon/eclipse side mount deff way to small
deff needs some work but atleats somone else got one up and running

I love the junkyard builds using what is freely available. That GT17 is maxed out and the IC is working hard. It is in the 40% efficiency range. Any more boost and they will overspeed it and possibly break the shaft.
I love the shot of the engine revving and that rubber accordion moving on the charge pipe. The smoke show was good too.

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
i bet boost comes in soon as he touches the throttle on that thing since that turbo is so small but it prolly kills the motor by say 4k rpms iirc corectly the gt17 has an obscenely small ex side on it
a t3 60 trim would do wonders for that thing

While were on the subject of turbos. Do they make any smaller turbos that have the varible vains like used on the ford superdutys?

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
They have a GT15V that flows about 200HP and a GT20V that flows a little more. They both have a variable vane turbine. The big thing is will it handle the exhaust heat?

It must be a blast to drive. I was trying to watch the boost gauge to see where it comes in. I couldn't really see it though. I think it is like you said. Boost right off from idle. Running the numbers it shows it should start making boost at around 1400 RPM and maybe a little lower. It must have full boost by 2000 RPMs. I like their "use what you got" approach.

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
i cant imageine how fast it spools cause even mine with a t3 .63 housing stage 3 wheel spooled up fast with a stock converter
now with the 60-1 and t3 .81 housing its a lil laggy if u just punch it from a dig but i like it like that keeps the back tires from being roasted off to bad

I have no clue on sizes, I'm not familer with turbos. But I know the one off a 6.0 ford would be way to much for the 6/60, likely still to big for my 5.7.
But I was thinking a VV turbo on a 6/60 would be really nice. Help add the boost low rpm, and possibly hold it a little longer.

Nothing wrong with blow through, except the heat can affect the readings. That's how I did the corsica when it ran 12's and broke 3 transmissions.
Junk, that almost looks like a turbo you need for your bike
I can give this guy props, though, seems as the MAF compensates fuel better than my speed density did, and I didn't even make the second run down the road haha.
So wish I was tuning BEFORE installing my turbo (both motors)

I'm running a turbo from a 6.5L GM Diesel on my 2.8L Nissan I6.
Now that I have the wastegate staying closed, like it should have been, I start to build boost before 2000 RPM and get to my current "full boost" of 14 PSIG (which is really only realitive my engine since it flows like crap), before 3000 RPM. With a better flowing head, it should start to spool a little sooner, and maybe build a little quicker.
You have to remember that diesels run at about half the RPM of gasoline engines.

The 6.0 diesel turbo should be fine on a 660.

I know they run at lower rpm because I own a 6.5TD. Thats why I figured it wouldnt hold up to the higher rpms. But I also know the 6.5 is designed to give boost at low rpm, and drop off at higher(to save mpg).
So your actually saying the 6.0turbo wouldnt be enough on my 350 then?

I bet that home grown turbo is lean, but the stock ecm does a good job of pulling timing at higher temps. And with as small a turbo it has it might not be too bad off.

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
Heat has a big effect on the readings, that's the basic concept behind how the maf reads airflow. Artificially added heat would have a huge effect, I would imagine. Extra heat would make the sensor report that there's less air passing through it, even though there's significantly more under pressure. I'm curious what maf you were using and how far off the maf was in boost. Was it after intercooler?

that maf looks like an lt1 maf which can be used in blow threw apps, the plastic ones that come on the 2.8 cars cannot be used that way they will not read anywere close to correct

Re: Another v6 turbo camaro lives !!!!!
Haha nice, i was just browsing the v6 forum and this is my car lol, yes my setup has alot of flaws, im 19 and a student so wokring low budget and have no experience at all with turbo builds suprise the car runs ! and still does today. Ive just ordered a fmu and will be looking for some 19lb injectors as the fuel system is curently bone stock. Im also gonna change the maf sensor and put it at the tturbo intake.. I got a problem tho, i dont think my maf is working anymore, i unplug it and it runs the same as when it is plugged in... how do i check if its the sensor itself or the wiring ? anyway ill post some pictures maybe or another video next week

This is another video i made with the rest of the footage of the turbo v6 running with v8 injectors (thanks Dale) and a 10:1 fmu. It was peaking at about 20 psi but the turbo is too small and would boost at about 15 psi constant and spinning so fast the air was really hot so not very efficient. Anyways this is the last of the footage before it started running like ****, i think a cylinder might be blown... i have a old 350 carbed with 3 speed tranny driveshaft and diff waiting to be build and installed so thats the next project. This was my first build i dindt know F** all about turbos but it was fun to do

last one.. i know ther not the best pitures, i wish i had some of the exhaust manifold but its basically the stock one, you cut a hole in it and run a pipe to the front of the engine.. i dont know if theres a better way to mount a turbo to this engine but this is the simplest way.

Do you have any tuning software or acess to a scanner? Check the maf flow with & without it hooked up. If it's the same it's probably not reading the maf. Codes?
