Has anyone here looked at a universal remote mount STS turbo for our v6?
I was just looking at their website and it seems like an ingenious way to turbo a 3rd gen v6, or any vehicle for that matter.

i seen this on the 4th gen firebirds and camaros but are cars i don't know all the piping under theses cars and the twin turbo lol alot of fab work if u ask me but for under 3000 better then a supercharger

if you buy the parts separately, you can make a rear mount turbo system for half that. I'm currently doing a remote turbo system and all together parts costs was about $1200 from Turbo to piping to computer management...

this is true. for the DIYer, a remote turbo setup will be much cheaper to put together yourself than any "universal" kit sold by a manufacturer

after i get my friends Formula back together... then put a clutch in my Vette... im finally gonna start tinkering around with my 86' 2.8 bird. a remote mount turbo setup is probably the way ill go

Eh.....
I'm just gonna go under hood. Remote mount became popular due to lack of space under the hood in modern cars. We have plenty of space.
Plus, remote mounts always seem to under perform compared to a more traditional setup running the same psi.

no problem with that. the only reason I'm going remote is because I didn't want to mess with custom exhaust manifolds and such... Remote turbo's make as much HP as underhood. There are pro's and con's for both...

Fabricating turbo headers seems to be the biggest draw back to underhood mounting on our cars. The remote mount has the added advantages of not needing a muffler and the charge pipe acting as an intercooler.

mmm i wonder a twin turbo v6 remote mounted. because i took my muffler off today and OMG the space there is just crying for two turbos
