ASP Underdrive Pulley

Ok, I searched and couldn't find an answer. For the ASP underdrive pulleys, alt/crank, what belt do you guys use? It says on their website but no one around here sells the type of belt ASP suggests. Also, is it better to just get the crank one, how much of a difference would the alt pulley really make?

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

pulleys really won't make a big difference. and they screw with the things your belt drives. I've heard of a lot of people putting them on and having alternator charging problems and stuff like that. just my .02. there are a lot of upgrades around that could get you power without giving you problems. replacing your idler pulley might get you the same amount of power if it doesn't turn as freely as it should, lol.

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

Just get the crank pulley. I have both pulleys and got the above mentioned charging problems as a bonus gift.

I went to Autozone and they were able to get me the equivalent that they sell. It fits fine.

Do you have the part # for the belt? And was it with the air pump or without, w/ ac or w/o?

I got the crank pulley, no problems w/ charging or any of that. But honestly, for the price of it, its not worth it. $50 and you dont notice crap. That $$ and be much better spent elsewhere.

I bought just the crank pulley and all I got was charging problems...might have been the fact that I had an amp/sub to power. It never made my battery die or anything...It would just fall below 14v after about 5 mins, and that was too low for me.
I'm considering finding a stock pulley and ditching the UD on my new setup.

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

Good to know. I might put upgrades on hold, kind of need another vehicle. I start working and my fiance won't be able to get to work. Trying to get a 91 RS with a 305 right now but the person takes forever to contact me.

lol, its not forever, it just seems like it sometimes. so I take it you'll make her drive the v6 if you get the 91? look for rust on that car before making a deal though, especially the floorboards.

Re: ASP Underdrive Pulley

i personally bought an underdrive alternator and crank pulley. the altenator one i didnt use because i didnt think it would even do much, but the crank pulley was so simple to install and i only needed an 89 inch belt. i also dont have my ac hooked up, but either way the belt i needed was only about an inch short. if you dont have with under drive pulley, I HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, it gave me seriously prolly 3 more mpg and i could def feel the freed up power. BEST $70 i ever spent! and i got it from summit
