I'm trying to replace my fuel filter, but when I pull out the fuel pump fuse, like the manual says, it doesn't run out of fuel like it's supposed to, like the pump still works. How do I get it to release the fuel pressure?

Tank off the fuel cap. It will release all of the take pressure.

if it is a 2.8 look at back of intake there is a little valve stem looking thing called a strader valve that will release all pressure off of the lines..be carefull it will squirt gas out ..so make sure motor is cold

It’s not pressure but the siphon effect since the tank is higher.
Work quick.

I guess I'll have to try all three. If none of them seem to work, I'll just try and syphon all the fuel out.

You have to disconnect the 2 wire oil pressure switch (at the oil filter) as well, otherwise the engine is going to run, regardless of whether the fuel pump relay is plugged in or not, when the oil pressure gets high enough. And yes, do expect a bit of a mess with the filter.

Thank you everyone. I got the fuel filter changed, well, my dad had to finish it because gas splashed into my eye! The "confidence chamber" in boot camp didn't hurt anywhere near that.

Yeah, I've been having problems with my camaro. It's been stalling, rough idle, fuel pressure issues (fuel filter replaced fixed that, old one was 10+ years). Runs a little better now. Still having stalling and rough idle issues. Working on fixing those soon!

Next time pull both injector fuses that will kill the fuel pump then reliese the pressure at the schrader valve . Not as much mess or fuss to do the change then.
