Cam for v6?

Just needed some info on modding my 3.8 3800 series.

I want to get a couple things for it in the near future, including:

-Intake
-Headers
-Fuel Injectors
-Port Polish
-Cam
-Roller Rockers
-Valves
-Lifters
-Pistons
-UD pulley (or maybe a super/turbo charger)
-Flywheel
-NOS
-Chip

Along with a few others.

Anybody have any experience with these types of mods on the 3800? I can't seem to find any high performance parts for it on Google So if you know a website I can order them from it would be most helpful!

Also, any recommendations would be appriciated

Thanks.

I think there's a 5th gen site, with a 4th gen message board, but it's pretty dead. I know this is 3rd gen but I figured someone probably did a 3800 swap at some point :P

I dont really have money to get a super-charger, but do you know if the boneville one is compatable with the stock 3.8 in the 02? If so, it's pretty much a bolt on...

I checked hawks third gen too, but they don't have v6 cams. However, I did find some of the other parts I was looking into

i would have thought the blocks are the same, if you could find a scrap heap car and strip the engine youd be laughing.

Hey don't be too hard on Dima. Some 89 firebirds came with a 3.8 turbo engine all be it a slightly different animal some parts do interchange engine to engine.

wasnt being hard on him ? just surprised he couldnt find any good 4th gen sites ? i didnt exactly tell him to p*&s off did i ?

good point on the TTA though, buick gn's had 3.8 turbo motors as well. it would seem you have quite a few options
as i said before i like the 3.8 motor, it will be interesting to see if you can get anywhere with it ? i wouldnt mind sticking one of them in my 3rd gen.
n/a turbo or supercharged
good luck dima, let us know

Re: Cam for v6?

I installed an Abbott N/A cam into a 3800. Made 200whp with headers and tune.

Re: Cam for v6?

Wow I guess I have a lot of options!

I was asking if that supercharger was compatible because, as far as I understand, since you are putting more air in the engine to increase combution size, you have to change the compression ratios to compensate so you don't **** up your timing. I assumed I would have to mod the engine before bolting on the supercharger.

Oh, and also; doesn't the stock 3.8 in the 02 bird have 200HP without mods?

Thanks for the input guys, helps a lot I'll post anything I do to the car here

Re: Cam for v6?

200 at the fly wheel. 200 at the wheels would be more around 230HP on the engine. roughly. the supercharger from the bonnie and grand prix (and Regal and park avenue and some of those oldsmobile cars..) will not work on your car. the charger would hit the firewall and be turned the wrong way. clubgp.com is good for just general 3800 tech info, but the other listed sites will be more specific for you. I'm eventually going to try and swap a 3800 into a 3rd gen make a new age TTA (unless I can get one of those amazing 3.6L DOHC engines GM has come up with, and the 6 speed auto to go with it..)

demon i been researching the swap on the new 3.6di engines, its gonna cost more then 4k at minimum,i would look to the caddy cts 3.6 mpfi motor as it will cost alot less, though its down 35 hp from the di motor
