Help with part name.

Help with part name.
Today as I was driving to lowes to buy a replacement threshold for my front door, I noticed my car was getting hot and I could smell coolant. I pulled over and when I looked, coolant was shooting out from....well....I don't know what the hel it's called...so I tried removing it and it's pretty corroded so it just broke in the lower manifold. Just need to know what it's called. I've searched all over google and 60degreev6.com with no luck, plus I can't find my Haynes manual anywhere.

That connector will be a doozy to get out. Might be easiest to get a whole LIM from another car, with the connector. Looks like you'll have to replace the metal piece too.

You're tellin' me doozy. And just to get the lower intake manifold off is a bia...so much chit to take off. Talk about frustrating. Tap and dye didn't work. Tried getting a bit to kinda clean up what was there because it was so corroded but the new coolant connector I bought seems to be larger than the one I have. Tomorrow it looks like i'll be heading to the junk yard to check, and if the new one I bought it too large, i'll be taking the old one with me...and the LIM if necessary.

Re: Help with part name.
Best to get one from a 2.8 as those didn't have the stupid plastic clip thing in the middle. Wish I had saved mine from the 2.8... The one I have now has a bit of a broken clip and occasionally leaks... Only thing is that they may have switched styles at the end of the 87 model year to the one that you have, and if they did and you find an older one, you NEED to keep the cold start injector in the back of the manifold even though you won't have any way to hook it up. Unless, of course, you can get a plug for the huge hole it leaves behind in your intake...

I agree with going to a yard and getting an intake manifold off of another car. those things are locked up in there pretty good. The intake isnt really that bad to get off either, this will give you the chance to weed out all the crap on the engine that you dont need (parts left over after)
