VERY VERY high idle

my 91 camaro V6 3.1 has this funny problemsometimes.
his idle goes trough the roof.
think about 3000 rpm idle.

I really dont know what it is, it looks like it gets to much food. but from where would he get it.
no blue or black smoke, no white smoge etc.
just a very high and steady idle, not even errors.

Re: VERY VERY high idle

Clean out your TB and the idle valve and also check for any vacuum leaks. Make sure that none of the vacuum lines are broken or disconnected. How is your gas mileage and how does the car run.

Re: VERY VERY high idle

no problems for the rest.
last week I fixed a vacuum leak between my throttle body and intake.
took of the complete intake for that.
you could hear it hissing back then. used gasket improver on both sides of the gasket between the throttle body, zo dat part is sealed. only other part where it could be leaking is between the uper intake plenum and the lower part ( dont know how it calls in english )
but I dont hear any kind of hissing or something, it also doenst happen all the time. it could be possible that after 10 minutes it stops, only to start doing it again after 2 minutes.
the idle itself is very stable at 3000rpm, its not going back and forward like when you would disconnect the brakebooster or something.

Re: VERY VERY high idle

Try cleaning out your throttle body and the idle valve. That may help you. Your idle isn't high al of the time then is it?

Re: VERY VERY high idle

no, sometimes its like the problm disappears, but like today , I start the car when i got back from the gym, it hangs on 1000rpm but keeps climbing. 2 minutes later, its I kan keep driving 45mph without hitting my gas. and if I put it in Neutral my idle goes to 3000rpm. 5 minutes later, I finally get it to run a normal idle ( it just happened ), then, I hit the gas and floor it, when i release it, the problem reoccurs.

Re: VERY VERY high idle

it just runs like you have your foot on the gas at 3000 RPM right? that would be a sensor. either that or your cars possessed and you should get a priest to work on that one.

Re: VERY VERY high idle

well, after I hired the priest to get the demon out of my car. ( wich didnt work )
I found out that something was wrong with my throttle cable and the connction to the throttle. if I released the gas, the throttle wouldn't close completely most of the time. making it look like my foot was still on the gas. without me noticing it on the pedal.

anyway, problem solved and demons destroyed.
