brake problems
so we've had a few problems with my brakes.
changed the master cylinder and right front caliper. found a leak in the line going to the right rear. fixed that, no prob. back brakes bled, ready to go.
now, we can't get the front brakes to bleed. so it's gotta be the lines or the wheel cylinders. anyone else ever have to deal with this and wanna give a young kid some pointers on fixing up his first dream car?
thanks pals

Re: brake problems
remove the front calipers and install new bleeder screws then try bleeding brakes again.. the screws are cheap.. removing the old ones with out breaking them .. priceless

Re: brake problems
well, we already put a new caliper on the right, and loosened the bleeder nuts and still no fluid. then, we tried using some manual bleeder kit, and still nothing, even on the brand new caliper. hell, the caliper was only like 10 bucks. so i'm not really sure. i''m not afraid to spend money, i just don't want to spend it on something i don't even need to.

Re: brake problems
is your brake light on the dash on? if it is, your proportioning valve is off center and needs to be recentered to bleed out right...

Re: brake problems
yeah, we made good and sure of all that. it was on, but in our fidgeting today, it went off. no brake light, back drum brakes bled just fine, but those darned front ones man, they're giving me hell.
at last check, the light was off, but the front brakes weren't bleeding even if we'd pay em to. sheesh. so many problems, but the payoff will be nice. it was sitting for 2 years.
but yeah, could it be clogged lines? i have heard that they have a tendency to corrode and break down inside and fall apart causing the lines to clog

Re: brake problems
did u have any fluid come out of the brake line when u changed the caliper?
if u changed the master cylinder u have to bleed the front till u get all the air out. loosen the bleeder screws and pump the brakes and watch the master cylinder keep filling it till u get all the air out. it should go empty as u pump the breaks but don't let it go empty or u will not get all the air out.
check the lines could be a pinched one or colapsed also.. those can be huge headaches or u could try bleeding the breaks at the line just before the caliper to check if you are getting any fluid..

Re: brake problems
it was the hoses. both front brake hoses were clogged. all good now, except it died and won't start. it's either the coil or the ignition module.
thanks for the help guys, i'm probably gonna need more later

Re: brake problems
i have another thread up about this, but you think it is the ign. module? cuz i did accidently leave the car on accessory, and i know that'll burn up the coil. which is more likely, the coil or ign.? it's just been so many headaches getting her on the road: fuel pump, filter, gas lines, thermostat, dist. cap, rotor, plugs, wires, my grandpa put a new MAF in it a while ago. i know it's from sitting for almost three years, but hey, i didn't have to pay for it, aside from parts.
but yeah, which do you think it is, the coil, or module?
