auto shifter gone funky

The other day I was driving up the driveway when I felt a loud "clunk" from the transmission area (700R4). Since then the shifter doesn't feel right. The tranny itself shifts through all gears fine still, but the shifter lever doesn't line up properly with the letters next to it (1,2,d,D,N,P). It also barely goes into park. It feels like something is out of alignment.

Before I start tearing things apart, I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what I should look at first.

Not really sure, but I would first look at the tranny mount. See if the rubber piece is still there. Mine broke, but didnt fall off, and was vibrating pretty bad.
Thats where I would start.

Check your linkage on the transmission, drivers side.
