Installation Of Chips

Ok, got a stupid one here for ya. Go ahead and make fun of me

When installing a jetchip, which way does it go in?? The stock chip only fits in one way, it has notiches. The jetchip can go in either way.

So do I install with prongs facing middle of case, or do I install with prongs facing outside??

Damn I'm stupid

For dual inline package chips, both the socket and the chip have a notch or dot on the side of one end indicating pin 1. They both have to be on the same side.

No markings on chip what so ever as to "pin one". Their is a pin missing on the ecm that I guess I could assume is pin one.

3 notches on ecm, no humps or notches on chip.

That pin missing isn't pin 1, but it's there so that the chip is keyed to only go in one way. Does the jet chip match the original one?

hmm, I've never heard of this sort of thing before. Both my Hypertech and my stock on had a notch on one side so you knew exactly how it went in there. Is the Jetchip a piggy back chip? If so perhaps it is similar to my Hypertech which is sitting on my desk right now at home, and I could take a picture of it for you to compare to yours.

On another topic, Dale I see that you have a V8 fuel pump in your car, how did you go about removing and replacing the other fuel pump? Thanks

It looks like it will only fit one way when you close it, put it in with longer side pointing towards the barcode thing. (best way I can describe it)

Give JET a call. No need to blow up the chip.

this is what my aftermarket Hypertech chip looks like and how it went into the computer.

I was wrong when I said that my Hypertech one had a notch. It in fact has no notch!

Dale: Take the blue plastic cover off your memcal very carefully and look at which way the chips are arranged.. that should give you all the info you need as to which way the jet memcal goes in.

Christerray: Learn something about electronics before posting a solution THAT UNGODLY STUPID ever again, because if bad advice like that ever causes someone to fry their ecu, I will make sure the responsible party is found and beaten severely.
