ICM Question...KED85 do you know...
if there are any symptoms prior to your ICM going bad? My car has been having a real lack of ummph lately, and I think it has to do with the ignition(seeing as the entire fuel and air system has been gone through this last weekend). I first thought it was the fuel filter, changed that, still had the problem. Then I changed the air filters and claned the TB and itnake passages along with running a fuel system cleaner through. The problem got a little better, but is still there.
Basically here's what it does. When I leave a light and let out the cltch, the RPMs drop considerably, and quicly, ~500 RPM, feels like it's gonna die. And throughout the driving range, it kinda kicks like there is a surge of power, then nothing, then another surge.
I checked the plugs, all good, the wires are only 6 weeks old. It feels a lot like when my coil died on me before. I have a spare coil that I kept when I got my Accel coil, so I am going to temporarily mount that tonight to see if my Accel coil could be bad after only 6 weeks. If that's the case, I'll be getting a new one for free, bastards give me a crappy coil. If that's not the case, then I think it might be time for a new ICM. Never had one go bad on me before, so I don't know if there are symptoms.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jeff

had some surging issuses with mine (if that's what you described) mine turned out to be corroded wires on the ignition coil, a corroded ICM, along with something else beign corroded on the distributor. Then the MAF had crapped out on me, so it got replaced too....now i've got the smooth idle and the power back, it's very nice, although when i first start my car, it's been hessitating again....grrrr.

Nevermind on that question. I put my old coil back in(the OEM one that was there before I got the Accel one), and the problem went away. That really makes me mad because the coil is only like 6 weeks old. Anyway, I think I'm going to call their customer service tomorrow and see if they will replace it. Wish me luck...
