TPI Style intake
I have the same style intake on my car. From the things sadi in this post, it sounds like a good setup. Is it really??? Is there anything other than using K&N Filters that can make it better. I have already taken out those little Elephant ear like thingies that bolt on right under the filters.

It is a TRUE cold air intake system. It may have a "few" restrictions in it. But the way I look at it, a 350 breathed thru it, its plenty good for my v6.
I have done the same as you. Removed them "wings" and plan to drop some k&n in it.
I never had the stock setup on my car, so I dunno if it was a gain, loss, or same.

Biggest restriction I can think of is the MAF....which you aren't gonna be able to mess with, so..looks fine to me!

the only thing i did to the MAF was to take out the screen. It's been out now for 6 onths and I've never had a problem with it. I think my next thing to do to it would be to replace most of the rubber duct between the MAF and TB with a nice peice of aluminum to try to make the air flow smoother and straighter, what do you guys think?

Make sure you've got flexible joints between the throttle body and the aluminum, and the MAF and aluminum. The flex piece is made flexible for a reason...if it's too stiff, when the engine torques, it'll rip the sucker off at the MAF, etc.

was thinkin' of that at one point, but I don't have the time or money to go out and find a new ECM, Digital EGR system and all of the rest of the stuff that will make that work. Just lazy I guess. But I am glad to know that I have a good intake for being stock.
