Car: '88 Formula, '94 Corvette, '95 Bird
Engine: LC9, 355" LT1, LT1
Transmission: T5, Zf6, 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.42, Dana44 3.45, 3.23
Driveshaft / Tail shaft angle

This is an LS swap but using an SBC bell housing and T5. I think my engine/transmission is angled too far to the right (passenger) side. The weight on the driveshaft rubs the safety loop now, which it didn't before with the SBC.

I had some trouble trying to find a phot of this exact angle for reference. Anyone have one that they can compare? Thanks!

Hi Anesthes,

It does look off (to the right) to me as well. I know it may sound simplistic, but I'll bet a contractor's chalk line, attached at the very center of the differential yoke and centered perfectly at where the tailshaft housing meets the transmission, would reveal what we're both seeing.

Good point, in theory the line should be dead center the whole way down the driveshaft, right? Good idea!

Looks "off" to me as well.

I'd just slot the single hole in the crossmember about ½" or so toward the driver's side. You can use the casting parting line in the transmission case as an approximate guide. Slide the trans side to side and tighten it up wherever everything fits the best.

I actually had two problems. It was angled too far to the passenger side, and it was up too high. I ended up loosening up the adjustable LS engine mounts, then took the two piece crossmember apart and welded the slotted part directly to the longer part. This gave me about 1/2" of drop to allow me to use a normal poly mount. Seems better now. Need to highway test it for vibrations. I have enough adjustment now that I should be able to move it around as needed.
