Clutch/ Neutral safety switch

I have a 1986 iroc 5peed with the lg4. I noticed my car would
not start or would sometimes start without the clutch engaged. Someone had bypassed the switch with a piece of wire. I want to put a new switch in but can’t find one anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have called around and none of the parts stores even shows a listing for it.

I think it is 14066569. Should be able to get one online or local parts store.

I have checked several I keep being told it’s discontinued. Found some on eBay but they are $200 each

Call hawks thirdgen and see if they can get you one from their parts cars. They may have a lead on an alternative as well.

The only thing I can think of is to call around to your local junk yards and see if they have one. You can search yards using www.car-parts.com.

You may also be able to upgrade to the later style switch with a new harness connector.

Do you know much about the later style switch? I'm in the same position and need to replace my old style and was thinking of going the route you mentioned. It looks like the newer one is firewall mounted (i.e. pedal compresses it at the end of its stroke)?

I called hawks motorsports and they had an updated version they said would work. I will be purchasing it and see how it goes

Re: Clutch/ Neutral safety switch

Consider checking with specialty auto parts stores or online platforms like eBay or Amazon for a 1986 IROC 5-speed with clutch safety switch issues. Ensuring proper functioning of the switch is crucial for safety reasons.

Re: Clutch/ Neutral safety switch

I did the Hawks switch and its working great. I did have to file the mounting pins as they were a little too big to just mount right up. I think that's because the Hawks switch is really a 4th gen switch that they are using for third gens and it's not quite a perfect fit. Just took a few minutes to mod the switch.
