Keep breaking tranny mounts

Keep breaking tranny mounts
I have a 350 with a T5 and I keep destroying the rubber trans mounts. Also the shifter rises under torque when using the stock mount as well even when new. Is this normal? The only one that holds the shifter solid and does not break is a poly mount from energy suspension but the vibration is horrible.
any suggestions?

Not 100% sure as they were already there but they are aftermarket chrome and are also red poly and in tact. I always assumed a motor mount issue would clunk with a side to side engine movement. I’m assuming they are fine?

U need to purchase the oem style engine mounts, not the aftermarket pretty crap. Also, with all the engine movement, check the tranmission mount to be sure it is not damaged.

Re: Keep breaking tranny mounts
"OEM style" mounts are no better than any other. Weaker, in fact.
When I still hallucinated that it was the thing to do, I could buy a brand-new one, put it in my car, and break it in half the first time I backed down my driveway and went to the store. And that was when it still had the stock motor in it. I know better now.
The ONLY permanent solution is a torque arm/crossmember setup that takes the torque arm's force OFF OF the transmission.

trans mount is a fuse, it pops to let you know something is wrong somewhere else in the circuit. Motor mount should be stronger than the transmission mount, to protect the trans mount. I don't like upgrading the trans mount to anything stiffer because that is like installing a larger fuse which allows more force to be transmit through the transmission into other regions possibly cracking or deforming other parts of the chassis. It depends how the vehicle is used and how well the chassis is prepared for the type of demand you are placing there.

What about solid motor mounts? Any u fellows remember when GM added chains about the motor mounts because of motor mount failure under full throttle starts from dead start.

I don't like solid motor mounts because they are vibration transmitting, it won't be friendly on street cars or comfortable. Or necessary imo
The act of suppressing vibration while stiffening the motor mount is something to acquire with time, power, traction, performance, experimentation
My preference is
1. a basic poly based motor mount- not too stiff. Not too soft. Rigid but still some damping efforts.
2. Vibration damper mount (generally a shaft with rubber component) attached somewhere to the higher-point on an engine, say engine valve cover or head, to the chassis stuff point strut tower.
3. 'Chain-like' flexible mount attached to the frame rail to engine which allows some movement, flexible, but prevents engine rotation during maximum effort beyond some maximum
stiff mounts are good to start but in my experience that added damper from the head or valve cover to the chassis makes a heck of a difference especially to manual trans cars

I have another question. What is the torque output of the 350 & the hp? The T5, from what I know, is not a hp lover.

Re: Keep breaking tranny mounts
Many of the Vehicles that I build, either require Solid Engine Mounts, or make enough Power that Rubber or Poly Mounts fail often...
I do not like using Poly Mounts with an Automatic Transmission, as they transmit too much of the Shifting Stresses into the Body/ Frame.
Vehicles with a Suspension get a Rubber Transmission Mount.
Vehicles without a Suspension get a Solid Transmission Mount.
