PerformaBuilt Transmissions

Anyone here use PerformaBuilt Transmissions? I had my 700r4 built by a local place and 3-4 gear failed twice with less than 100 miles.

Yes, PerformaBuilt is in PA and they have a good reputation.

I personally would recommend Pro-Built Automatics, in CA.

Thanks for the response, Pro-Built Automatics is the first place I tried and have called and texted multiple times, no response. Are they still in business?

Re: PerformaBuilt Transmissions

My experience with Performabuilt is about 5 years ago before we swapped to a manual. They built a 700 for me on a 12 month "throw what you want at it power wise, if it breaks we'll repair it" warranty. It held to 800 hp with zero issues on a Procharged SBC. If I were still running automatics, I would use them again.

Re: PerformaBuilt Transmissions

@punkmaster98 when it broke after the first rebuild I assumed that was the issue but after the second fix I had a mechanic check the adjustment before driving and it was set up correctly but still failed. I would like someone to check it out as I assume it was not built correctly.

Just to warn you. I believe that version of the transmission is now something around $4000. It wasn't inexpensive when I got mine and it hasn't gone down in price.

Pro-Built Automatics is a very small, One-man business.
When he is full on Jobs to complete; you can most likely only leave him (Dana) a message.
However he does return the messages when he has an opening to take on another Job.

It is well worth the wait, if he is full on Jobs currently.
But like I said... Performabuilt is also great!
