Input drum engaged to front planet

I’m about ready to start figuring out my end play with the drum splined on the planet. Here is a video

Re: Input drum engaged to front planet

Ok never mind I think I have it figured out the reverse drum is sitting below the pump gasket surface. I also am measuring the distance between the two drums right at the notched cutout. I hear this is a dirty secret, you should be able to get a stack up of feeler gauges that equal .150 in rather snug. Also here is a pic, when I rotate the input shaft the reverse drum is not on top of the bearing so I’m guessing I need a thicker selective washer

Re: Input drum engaged to front planet

Ok I measured my original selective washer it is 0.80 do I have to put my pump, band and servo in. I don’t want to ruin my Teflon seals from inserting and removing

Re: Input drum engaged to front planet

I’m referring to the puzzle like notches between the sunshell and reverse drum

Re: Input drum engaged to front planet

Here's the setup I used when I measured mine:

You do not need to install the band or the servo/accumulator. You do need to install the pump gasket.

I first measured the end play without the Selective Washer installed, checked the chart and choose the washer I needed to get the end play in spec (it needed a thinner washer then the original).

I installed the washer and checked again to confirm the end play.

I didn't install the Teflon Sealing rings until after the end play was confirmed. You should be OK if you don't bang the shafts around, it shouldn't take you more than 3 or 4 stabs to determine the washer you need and secure the pump.

Make sure that everything is sitting all the way down (working with the case standing up):

I put a square on the pump mounting surface and eyeballed how for below that surface the Reverse Input drum sat. No measurement was taken; just confirmed that it was below flush:

Re: Input drum engaged to front planet

Well I went back and mocked up the pump without the pump gasket and without the shaft lifting tool. I just used a thick rag with a vice grip it took a few tries. I tried setting up the dial indicator on the edge of the input shaft it was a little difficult but I made sure it returned to zero

1) with no washer I got 0.050 endplay
2) With 0.080 washer I got 0.015 endplay
3) with 0.110 washer I got no endplay
4) my gasket thickness is about 0.015

Im kind of drained on cost I know I should of bought the special tool. The thrust washer and selective washer kit that I initially bought were all supplied with too thick washers. Ultimately I used my original selective washer also here is a pic
