9 bolt yoke help

Just rebuilt my 9 bolt, started putting back together last night to check the pinion depth. All went together fine, but needed to add few shims and recheck my contact pattern. Got back at it today, taking the yoke back off, added shims, went to put the yoke back on and now I have this gap despite the pinon bolt being tightened as far as it can go. I'm not sure if I'm overlooking something from last night till today, but I have a gap now that wasn't there last night. I even took the shims out and tried it again and same gap that was not here this morning when I took it back off. Very confused.......

You didn't install the crush spacer yet did you? If you did then remove it and save it for the final assembly.

No I don’t. Should there be any space like that or should it be flush technically?

Did the bearings get tight when you tightened the pinion nut? If they did then it's probably right.

Yes it was all tight and seems good to go, thanks.
