Differential axel

Have a 92 base firebird with 5.0 TBI 5 speed manual transmission. The differential is a 10 bolt 28 spline axel shaft for drum brakes. I've was told that they are the same from 82-92 firebird or Camaro but found out the hardway that they are not. Can some one please tell me what other year models this type of axel I'm looking for can be found. Thank you

I have a bent hub on the driver side rear axel causing massive vibration. Tried to swap out twice already. Went to salvage yard and found a 89 firebird. The numbers on the pumpkin were the same as my 92 base firebird with the ground effect package from the dealer and I also tried a 84 camaro and they weren't the same. I was told that 82- 92 firebird or camaro would fit but I was mid informed. I'm asking this because at the salvage yard there's lots of 4 generation firebird and camaro . I was just trying to find out if maybe a 4th gen is compatible to my 10 bolt 28 spline differential axel shaft with drums. Thanks

Re: Differential axel

IIRC 90-92 have the axels you need.
82-89 10bolts have 26 spline.

Re: Differential axel

You need a '90 to '92 axle. 4th gen is too long.

Re: Differential axel

A new set of axles can also be had for about 200 you may want to consider it.

Here is a set with new studs, bearings and seals for $204
