What's "l96"?
Why a 4-speed? Auto or stick?
What is the car gonna be used for?

L96 is Chevy's 6.0
I have a personal interest in the 4spd I know it's strange.
It will be driven on the road and occasionally hitting the strip.

I vaguely remember reading something about some 6.0s having a longer crank, depending on the application, but with enough $$$$ anything is possible, but you still didn't answer Sofa's question, Auto or Stick?

I put an m20 in my 86. Not much to it. Its my DD and not a pain at all, on the contrary actually.

A 4L80E would have come behind earlier 6.0s, the ones pre VVT, but I'm not sure the cranks the same. Are you using the L96 computer?
