clutch noise- scraping sound?

Trying to find out what this noise is... as soon as I start do depress the clutch, a constant scratching, scraping noise starts... kind of like a light grinding. It is constant in intensity. Stops as soon as I let off the pedal.

Any idea by this description alone? I don't know if it's the original clutch... car has about 138,000 mi.

Re: clutch noise- scraping sound?

time for a new clutch , pressure plate , pilot bearing & throw out bearing . a good idea to have flywheel re-surfaced while replacing them . good luck ...

Re: clutch noise- scraping sound?

The car had been modtly sitting for a good number of years. When I first got it going the clutch seemed frozen stuck. After a while it did start to engage/ disengage...

OK, so here's a dumber question... is there a clutch fluid reservoir under the hood?

Re: clutch noise- scraping sound?

Dayum! I think i have the same issue which i posted on this link: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...-shifting.html

I guess its time for a new clutch. Im going to go for a maintenance soon so i can give you a feedback of the result! I have the same issue when switching gears. If i switch too fast then i can hear a scratching, grinding sound. If i do it slowly, i dont hear anything.

Re: clutch noise- scraping sound?

What if I have the exact same problem but I've installed everything brand new. I press the pedal and it makes the noise. I let off its normal, clutch works perfectly just loud scraping noise.??
