T5 to 700r4 on 355 v8
Hey guys, been a while since my last post. Hoping you could give me some info on a swap I was thinking about. I have a 305 LG4 with 700r4 out of a 1984 camaro. I was wondering if that tranny will match up to a carbed 355 v8 that is currently mated to a T5. Trying to hook up the 355 and 700r4 and put them into an 85 camaro. Would it be possible to run this set up without any wiring issues? Could I do it without any electronic controls? Straight mechanical carb set up? I'm guessing I would need a new torque converter and flex plate? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Gotta have some way to control the TCC, which is electric. No alternatives there.
Gotta have THE RIGHT throttle cable setup. They can be obtained for most carbs. Without that, the trans will likely not last long at all.
Might not need a new torque converter at all. Kinda depends on what the one you have is, and what the other motor wants. But as far as fitment, it'll bolt right up.
Other than that, no problem.

You can get a painless harness for the TCC lock up. Easy to install and not expensive. Will also need a bracket for the carb to correct the TV cable geometry.
