T56 driveshaft pics?

I was wondering if anyone has a pic of how far their driveshaft goes into their t56? I was looking at mine and I think it might be too short. I had it shortened when I installed the ls t56. Now I am thinking I might have measured wrong. It works fine but there's like an inch of shaft showing between the dust seal And the yoke.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

Unless you put an LS T56 onto a Gen I/II block you should have used a stock length driveshaft. So it's probably short by however much you shortened it.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

Take measurements.

Determine how far into the tailhousing bushing the yoke is inserted. That bushing is an inch or 1.5" wide. If it's into 100% of the width of the bushing, you're fine because the spline depth is more than adequate at that point.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

I will snap a pic tomorrow. Back when I did the ls tranny on a lt1 I was one of the first, so there was no information out there. It just looks like it's not in far enough for some reason.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

I Have an LS tranny and yoke is always in the boot seal, you can see any of the splines of the out put shaft. This is best picture I have.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

Is this ok? Keep in mind seal is not what's showing, that's just a dust seal. The actual seal is flush with housing. So it looks like I have about a couple inches of shaft inside tranny.

Re: T56 driveshaft pics?

you should knock the rust off or it will kill that seal.
