4th gen rear end posi question

Hey guys, my 4th gen rear end Posi is getting weak and I've been searching on whether or not I can replace the clutches... Everywhere I look everyone is saying you can not rebuild them but when I look on summit they have a replacement clutch kit for 93-02 camaro rear ends? Is this a mistake or can in use this to rebuild my Posi unit? Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

Re: 4th gen rear end posi question

If you have a LSD from a '97 or older Camaro 7.5 rear end then it's the Auburn and you can not rebuild it. When the Auburn wears out it is scrap metal. Be ready to clean all of the powdered metal sludge out of the rear end housing. The clutches that you are looking at are for a Yukon differential, not the Auburn. The Yukon is an after market differential that was never factory installed in any GM car or truck. You can use the Yukon differential in your Camaro.

The Summit ad is screwed up anyway. They have the clutches listed for standard differetnal and for a "posi" differentil. Just another reason why I tell everyone NOT to buy rear end parts from Summit. Get them from someone who actually does rear end work and knows what they are doing. Tom's Differentials and Randy's Ring & Pinion are 2 good ones.

Re: 4th gen rear end posi question

The clutches in the links fit Yukon rears, not stock ones.

The Auburn that would have come in a clutch-type 4th gen rear is not rebuildable, as Mr Big says. You can call Auburn yourself just like I did and maybe he did too, I'm sure they'll tell you the same thing they told me. They DO offer this wonderful "exchange" program; if your rear is less than like 2 yrs old, they'll swap it for a new one at about a 20% discount. Mighty gracious of em. Which is why I will NEVER give those people a dime of my money for their crap that doesn't last to begin with.
