Car: 1991 Camaro RS
Engine: 5.0 L03
Transmission: T-5
Axle/Gears: 3.43 Torsen 10 bolt
T5 Shifters
I am getting my T5 rebuilt soon, and am curious about aftermarket shifters for it. I saw that there is so much slop it can over-shift if you are shifting aggressively, and that a shifter with built in stops is a good idea to shorten and solidify shifts. I've seen many mustang shifters, but I am aware our T5s are angled so these won't work correctly. Any suggestions and or recommendations?

I have the Pro 5.0 shifter in mine. I like the shifter but the lever was a bit long so I cut an inch or so off the top. I haven't put it back in yet but i was very happy with the shifter after I pulled out the old one. I know theres others out there, but thats all i have experience with.

I had the Hurst Comp + in my car since about 1986 or so, that being the only one there was at the time, up until I finally saw the light and put a T-56 in it.
There's only a handful of aftermarket ones out there. Pro 5.0, Hurst, & B&M is just about it. From what I've seen you can't go too far wrong with any of them. They're all so much better than the stock one, in EVERY POSSIBLE way, you'll be delighted, no matter which you pick.

I saw that there is so much slop it can over-shift if you are shifting aggressively,
Make sure you replace this,......... Sounds like you need it !!! It's a quick/cheap/easy install ( getting the body boot off is the hardest part ) that doesn't need to wait for a complete rebuild. If yours is worn out ( sure sounds like it ) then you might be VERY surprised how much better your stock shifter feels once a new sleeve is installed !

P.S. I use B&M shifters and never had a complaint.
