Throttle Cable Q's
Just installed a new 700r4 and everything is in, Started filling it up with trans fluid and noticed that I could only shift from P to R to N to D and down, went to shift back up into park and got nothing.
Anyways, ended up that the cable housing at the transmission is sliding back making it impossible to shift back to P.
Is there supposed to be a clip or something on there? Worked fine before we took it out. Maybe its something completly obvious, I just am missing it.
Thanks.

Re: Throttle Cable Q's
It sounds like it's just pulling the selector lever but not able to push it correctly back. There should be a bracket connected the transmission pan to hold the cable. Something like this:

Correct, I have the bracket bolted to the pan.
On the boot side, is there supposed to be a clip of some sort?
Shifting back to park, instead of pushing the selector lever on the transmission back to park, it pushes the sheath out of the bracket (bolted to the pan).

Ah so I feel like an idiot.
The plastic has little clips on the side, you just gotta make sure and push it all the way snug to get them to seat.
Best part is, transmission is shifting like crap!

Re: Throttle Cable Q's
Is this still an issue?
Issues on 700-R4 can be related to TV Cable not properly adjusted.

Re: Throttle Cable Q's
I readjusted the TV cable and gained alot of performance. Shift from 1st to 2nd still seems rather weak. shifts on highway from OD to 2nd & 3rd are outstanding, very fast response. Perhaps the cable is a tad too loose? or tight?

Re: Throttle Cable Q's
The cable is either correctly adjusted or not. There isn't any adjustments. As long as you have a good tv cable, bracket, and follow proper adjustment instructions it should be good.
