cant get trans oil pump out, need help

Hi,
thies is a 1985 700r4 trans.
I have the oil pump loose, from prying it up through the filter hole, and also removed the selanoid. But the pump only goes up about 1/2inch and stops. Is there something i have not done? Im afraid to put too much pressure by prying it out.

Thanks,

proper puller is your best option.

triple-make-sure everything from underneath holding it is removed.

I've held the stator support with a medium (4" capacity) bearing splitter and a slide hammer to tap one out but the stator support was junk.

Re: cant get trans oil pump out, need help

I got it! I had an old valve spring compressor "the kind you can rent from autozone" laying around that I was able to use with a pair of vice grips to make a puller. Basicaly gripped the bottom of the spline with the part that is supposed to grip the bottom of the spring and used the vice grips to hold it in place.
