Hello forums,
I have been thinking of getting a shift kit for my car, and while the trans is off I am thinking of getting a new torque converter that runs about 2500 stall for the engine I am building. The engine I am building will be done by the summer time. First off I am a recovering Ford fan :P
And I have no idea what transmission my 5.0 Berlinetta has in it?
Should I save the torque converter for the summer as well or just do it while the tranny is off?c

Your questions are even tougher for us to answer.
Your post, and profile do not contain much info.
What year is the car?
Which trans is in it? Check the trans pan, and describe the shape.
If it is a square with a diagonal corner, it is a turbo 350 or turbo 350c.
You plan to remove the trans to install a shift kit?
Or, is the trans already out of the car?
It is not nescessary to remove a trans to install a shift kit.
It is nescessary to remove it to do a torque converter replacement.

As far as your question regarding installing converterin the summer, that is your choice. I normally choose not to pull a trans 2x, but if your budget won't allow both mods at once, you may have no other option.

Sorry about the dismal amount of information, was late at night when I made this post. My profile will be filled out in a few. My car is an 1982 Berlinetta I will check the look of the transmission tomorrow. And I do not have to remove the transmission for the shift kit? I do not have enough funds to swap the torque converter at the moment since I have too much money tied up at the moment. How does one go about installing a shift kit, and since I know nothing about trans, should I get it professionally done or use this as a learning experience?
