Hi everyone, I bought a pro 5.0 shifter for my 84 camaro. I followed a tutorial here at third gen( http://www.cardomain.com/ride/186985...camaro/page-10) All went well with the install accept now that I have the shifter installed I cannot get 1,3,5 gears. The shifter slips into 2,4,and reverse with no problem. It doesn't seem to matter what I do with the stop bolts as I can back them all the way out or in and no matter what I do I cannot get 1,3,5. I must be close as I push the shifter forward, because I try to put it in 1st gear and when I ease the clutch out the shifter pops back into neutral. I have done a ton of reading before I tried this instal but yet here I am missing gears. any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

make sure the shifter ball is in the socket inside the transmission...shift rail.... if not it wont go into gear correctly

I was pretty sure it was snug in the socket inside the tranny, I even applied a dab of grease to the ball prior to instal. Is there a chance I got the wrong pro shifter?? It says 82-92 camaro /firebird T5 but thanks for your help.

I JUST thought of something else........remove the 4 bolts and rotate the shifter 180*.........if the shifter is installed incorrectly or the shifter is not in the rail correctly it will not operate as it should

Well I haven't had a chance to work on the shifter any further but I also noted that my stock shifter **** will not fit the pro 5.0. The pro 5.0 has a threaded end for the shifter **** , but my shifter **** doesn't screw on like most. To remove my shifter **** I have to pop the little plastic insert off the top(shift pattern)and then use a socket to remove the bolt. In any case I do need a shifter **** now too, so if anyone has a shifter **** for sale or knows where I can get a new one please pm me, I guess I will be looking for a new shift boot, as the boot opening is too small and the shifter wont fit through it. thanks and all advise appreciated.

Hey guys not to barge in but I have a b&m short throw shifted where you don't have to set the stops and it fits the factory shifted ****. Had it installed maybe 2 months pm if your interested.

Well I am embarrassed as I was having a blonde moment, as it turns out I had it on backwards. Whats funny about this is that I am usually the one laughing at people who make dumbass mistakes....guessing I am the dumbass this time (: oh well I can admit when I've screwed up...hahah, on a lighter note I can now get all gears perfectly. Just trying to fit the shifter ball and boot and I will be ready to take her for a ripp....can't wait !!
