Re: Cost of T56
My average cost was probably around $2200 - 2400 or so...
$1000 trans
$250 used CF 700107 FW
$200 used Spohn TA / x-mem
$400 new CF DF clutch
$135 new hydraulics
$200 new shifter
$0 modified ext housing for speedo, somebody had one but needed a stock one
$??? misc nickel & dime stuff
Coulda been done cheeeper, coulda cost ALOT more. Final cost depends on how patient you are looking for used stuff, and how much beyond the basics (TA for example) you do along with the basic swap.

Re: Cost of T56
Have a T56 in my 2001 GT. Different car, but similar cost.
I bought my T56 out of a 2003 Cobra, plus a Fidanza billet steel flywheel, Centerforce DFX clutch, 03-04 Cobr aluminum driveshaft for $2,000 + my damaged TR3650 5 speed setup from flywheel to driveshaft, then $150 for the install. Plus I paid for some small stuff like a 448 U joint to combine an 03-04 Cobra driveshaft with a solid 8.8 GT rear, 4 quarts of Royal Purple synchromax.
So all together I'm at about $2,200, and my damaged TR3650 setup wasn't worth much. He told me the clutch was pretty much shot when he pulled it out, bent shift fork, bad synchros, possibly damaged shift keys, etc. I'd say with the value of my parts I traded in, still less than $2,800.
Seems like we're all in the $2K range.

Re: Cost of T56
I did mine for ~$1800 total, but that was like 8 years ago and I got a STEAL on the trans ($500) because it had a bent 3-4 shift fork. Naturally, I replaced it with a steel one from D&D, and have been rowing gears ever since.
edit: I should also note that my swap was 700R4->T56, not T5->T56.

Re: Cost of T56
My T56 was a 1995 box with nearly all new parts.
$1000 w/bellhousing
$60? Mods to crossmember
$150 T5 flywheel and clutch
$240 machine work to trans. for mech. linkage
$80? rod-end linkage
-$135 I made a few bucks buying and selling Mcleod crap that didn't fit like advertised (after two calls to them to confirm.)
Didn't do VSS / speedo mods yet. I'm up in the air as to whether I want to keep this trans. or do something different.

Re: Cost of T56
It's my favorite of all the mods and upgrades I've done to the car. And there have been a LOT.
