9 bolt rebuild
I just wanted to let everyone know that is a rookie at a rear end rebuilding like i am, that when you buy a used rear from a JUNK yard, you should spin the yoke with a drill and check the axle's for wobble. I rebuilt a different 9 bolt, put on about 250 miles on the break-in and was going to install new speedo gears today, so i don't know why i decided to start the car on jack stands, but when i did both rear tires wobble like a weeble. Now i have about $1000 in a rear with 3.70 gears with bad rear axles. The real kicker is that i nailed the pattern and backlash to near perfect, now i have to find straight axle's. Just a good thing i still have my old rear end that was just reinstalled in about 4hrs. today. I suppose the car it came from either rolled or was impacted from the side in the rear. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever come across something like this, or was it just my own stupid mistake?
