Th350 Which Kickdown Cable sealing design is best?

I know that the th350 has two different kickdown cable seals. The one I have is a double O-ring and the others have the top-hat type seal.

Which one seals better?

Should I buy new o-rings for the one I have or by a new cable with the top-hat design?

also which year model do I need?

A 81 camaro lists as 39.375 inches and a 77 Camaro lists as 46 inches long.

The one I have is from a 77 4X4 chevy truck with double o-rings.

Oh yeah, I have the Holley throttle cable bracket with the kickdown provisions.

I dont remember which one mine was, but it was a Lockar cable. Whichever seal they use. I never had any leaks from it. I say if you had no problems with the O-ring design, then there is no reason to change. Do you need a new cable?

Yeah, I need a new cable.

When I put the trans in, I had no intentions on hooking the kickdown cable up. I changed my mind and this one is mangled on the carb end.

I have a leak in the kickdown cable / dipstick tube area and I want to fix it. The cooler lines are fine and I bought a double o-ring flexable dipstick.

This one fits a 78 Camaro and has the top-hat type seal for $16.99 and its in stock locally.

Were did you get yours?

I know the o-ring type cable is a larger different diameter than the one with the top-hat type seal.

When I say new I mean the Trans, had a TH350 built by PAE in AZ, when it was shipped it came with both, he said it didn't matter which I used, I used the hat, look like it would work better.

So you ended up with two kickdown cables or two different seals? In not try to come off stupid, but the top-hat seal wont work with the o-ring type cable. Unless im completely wrong.

Understood. Thanks

Now I need to figure out if I need a 36" or 46" cable. The one from the 77 truck measured to 36 inches, but I didnt have it hooked up. Maybe I can mount it to my throttle bracket and see if it will be long enough.

The 46" might have to be twisted around to take up the slack.

Anyone have an idea which length works best?
