so for a while its been shifting weird and i figured it was the TV cable. i adjusted it and it helped a little but still not that great. yesterday i noticed under the car a pool of trans fluid, the gasket on the pan is shot. the car/trans is a little over 100,000 miles.

btw: its a 700R4

what should i do with it next?

i've been saving/planning to get the exhaust finished (right now its just headers, y pipe, and a temp cat.) when i planned to take it to the shop i was gonna ask them to check the TV cable as well.

should i get the trans serviced + a new pan gasket? i heard its about 150 bucks, but if i'm getting a new trans or rebuilding it i think thats a 150 i dont need to spend.

i'm kind of hesitant to go take it rebuilt as i've heard of the labor costs.

so here are the options i have so far.

get the exhaust done and while its there just have them look at it and see if it is just the tv cable and a worn out gasket.

buy a rebuilt trans

get a book, do some reading, look at pictures, and rebuild it myself.

any ideas?
