th350c slips into neutral
My 1984 350c sometims acts like it's in neutral, mostly starting out after sitting but it did it once after going over a speed bump. Only does it for a few seconds in either forward or reverse.
The trans has about 3500 miles on it, totally rebuilt, bushings and all, it was converted to non lock up with a superior products 350HP shift kit and parts from a '79 trans am th350.
The fluid level is good, filter is tight and governor is ok. What else should I check? Thanks.

When you say mostly after sitting, do you mean that after an overnight sit it won't go into Forward AND Reverse? If so it sounds like a drainback problem, possibly loose pump clearances. To check, look at the fluid level before starting and then after it will move. If it is REAL high then you have drainback. If it is JUST Forward you may have the Manual Valve missadjusted. With selector in ''D'' back of manual valve MUST be flush with end of VB casting. Bend ''S'' clip to adjust. You may need to overfill it, or perhaps the dipstick isn't correct for the vehicle. Lastly, did you tap the Governor cover in to take up the excess clearance between it and the cover? The speed bump note made me think of it.
Oh yea, I guess I have to point out that Superior doesn't make a 'Shift Kit"!

Superior Shift correction packages.
LOL, Superior will sure correct you on the phone if you say "shift kit".
Gil and Steve Younger have even sued each other over items. But that's another subject.
I have found that Superior products work well in modern Mopar stuff like 46RE units.
If the clearance is too high on the pump gears the pump can lose prime and drain back is a problem too.
I have seen these trans have good line pressure(my own truck) in park....... put it into gear and the line pressure goes to ZERO. I pulled the pump, found .0045 clearnce of the gears(side). It was like the pump "burped' and there was no line pressure.
I closed this up to just under .002 and the thing worked beautiful!!!
Do you have the separator gaskets on correctly? The front support plate tight? linkage set up as transfixleo says? Incorrect tube and dip stick?
One other thing,,,,,,,,,,, you did all of the mods to the lock up valve assembly?? Block the valve, plug the solinoid hole? Check ball out?

Yes, I should have known better than to call it a shift kit.
This problem started recently, even after sitting 8 hours it'll do it.
I've done or checked everything you guys mentioned except the governor cover clearance, I just changed a governor spring and had a hard time getting the cover back on, I'll also have to check the dipstick to see if it's right and fluid levels to see if it's draining back.
Thanks for the help guys.
