hey guys

i ve googled for about 45 minutes now before deciding to ask this question here.

there is this guy selling a rear end out of a 1995 Formula 5.7L 6 speed, now he bought the car soley for the engine and trans, and doesnt know that gears are and if its a posi or not, i know it has disc brakes, based on this discription can any of you guys shed some light on what this rear end may have in it, assuming is stock.

can some one at least point me to a site where i mite be able to dig up a chart similar to the chart we have on this site that show engine,trans,rear end combos in the tech section.

Find the decal that has the RPO codes on it. The rear end codes start with G. If it has G80 then it is a posi. The gear ratios are GU3-2.73, GU4-3.08, GU5-3.23, GU6-3.42, GT4 3.73, GT5-4.10.

oops forgot to mention the rpo sticker is not in the glove box nemore and the car is covered in snow, rear end is still in it. but the rest of the car is apart or in pieces, should i ask for the vin?

being 95 and having the lt1-6spd its MOST LIKELY to have a 3.42 gear and g80 posi unit.

the posi-traction unit is known for wearing out and becoming a one wheel burner.....i know from experience.


but anyways, my 95 t/a had that rear end comebo as 3 of my friends that had a 6spd

All 94-02 4th gens with V8 engines and 6-speeds have 3.42 10-bolt rear ends.

The 93's could have either 3.23's or 3.42's.
