Anyone Sandblast And Powder Coat Their Rear Axle?

I'm thinking of doing this to mine and I'm just wondering if anyone has done this to theirs. If so, what color and did you like how it came out?

I've never done one of my own (they don't last long enough to make it worth while lol) but I've done for other cars - its a great way to clean it up and never have to worry about rust again. I say go for it.

I really appreciate the feedback. A local shop will blast it at a good price. They're the one's who asked if I wanted it powder coated, and I really liked the idea. You answered my thoughts to if it would rust again. I know it's kind of ****, but it's the only part of the car that looks bad.

I thoroughly cleaned and then painted mine with POR-15. Still looks great.

JamesC

did the same to mine.

Powdercoating the rear end seems like it would be a good idea if your car is only going to be for shows and your going to have big mirrors under it so everyone can see it, but for a driven car I wouldn't waste my time or money, just POR-15 it and spray a color of your choosing and call it a day.
Just my 2 cents

Excellent. Keep the feedback coming guys. Did both of you do the process of sanding and naval jelly? BTW, mine is not for show. I've just seen stuff powder coated and like the look. When the shop offered me that option, it made me go hummm...

Where are you getting the sand blasting done? and how much are they charging you? is the rear out of the car or still installed?

i'm not too far from sac and would like to find somewhere to do sandblasting for a good price.

thanx

Hi Zed, $70 to sandblast and you have to take the rear end out. It would be an additional $200 to powdercoat. From the comments here and doing further searching, I'm going to go with POR-15. I haven't taken it out yet due to lack of funds right now, but I expect to take it over in about a month. My friend recommended this place because of their quality work and decent prices.

Perfect-It Sandblasting, 11496 Refinement Rd., Rancho Cordova, CA (916) 635-8720
