What have I done to my T5? Please help!

I think I may have just done the most bone-headed thing possible to a third gen Camaro. I was looking for the fill hole to check the fluid level on my T5 and accidentally loosened the wrong plug. Instead of loosening the plug on the RIGHT (passenger) side of the tranny, I loosened the 13/16 plug (stamped Borg Warner) on the LEFT (driver) side of the tranny. Upon pulling the plug out I felt tension release behind it, and now I fear gears and stuff may be misaligned inside. I have no idea what this plug is for and when I tried to screw it back in it bottomed out on something before it could get flush with the tranny case. I have not started the engine yet for fear of causing things to get even worse, so I don't know if it still shifts through all the gears.

What have I done? PLEASE HELP!!

the plug on the driver side is a dowel for the rev/5th gear rail. the trans will need to be opened up to reassemble everything.

Do you think I can drive it to a tranny shop like this or should I just have it towed?

I drove it forward VERY carefully for a few feet and I don't hear any grinding. No 5th or reverse though of course. What are the odds of anything falling out of alignment inside while driving. I looked at a parts breakdown of the internals and I'm not sure if any levers or gears could get jammed up against other parts.

i would advise against driving it any distance, as you do not want any loose parts coming in contact between the gears and the counter-cluster(really bad day)
