I have problems with a 700R4 in a 1986 berlinetta camaro of mine. I had to readjust the tvc but haven't drove it yet. but i have problems with it leaking. when i get off the pedal it kicks out of gear.? what could be the problem the torque converter or does it sound like i need a rebuilding project? I do keep the fluids up. And it shifts but won't shift in overdrive. BUt that could be b/c the tvc wasn't adjusted. PLease any input would help thanks.

when you set the tv cable(push the tab slide it in all the way ,let go of tab, then pull throttle wide open and it should click out) spray a little wd40 on the slide, mine was binding up and I wasnt able to open the throttle all the way. Its likely there is another problem though. Unless the tv is really out of correct adjustment and even then I dont know if it would stop od.

Ok i did that. i haven't drove it yet. another thing is it slips out of gear if i go under 3k rpms. is that a torque converter problem. it shifts lil hard but when i get of the accelerator it kicks out of gear till i get it up to 3k rpms again.

Pro Built Automatics

Sounds like you have no engine braking, which means something in the overrrun clutch assembly is the problem. What happens when you put the lever in the manual "2" postion at 30 mph and let off of the throttle? It should slow you down from engine braking, if not, the transmission has to be pulled to fix this.

When i did that it slowed down.? but then after it went down a about 15mph it would kick out.

Is it something i can baby until i get it rebuilt? thanks for you're input i was afraid it could of been the clutch

Okay enough on what if and babying sorry for stammering and making people lol getting irritated with my questions. I have decided to rebuild the **** transmission. I am a man who likes to get dirty. i Have alot of people saying i can't rebuild a 700R4 being a novice in that department. So i am going to decide to do it and prove them wrong. I need to know couple things though that would be helpful. Where can i get a kit for the special tools that are required to build them easier. B/c lol i ben in the long road before using my tools and knuckle busting rythm. I don't mind that its just a pain in the ***. If someone can help me finding or know a site i can go to to get tools i would greatly appreciate it. I am very easy on peoples ideas. and when i rebuild it i am going to put a shift kit in any ideas on taht. I heard you can get one that you can shift you're own gears 1,2,3. and D you can drive normal. Does that hurt the transmission? so any ideas i surely appreciate it and i will post pictures on this novice first time builder and show that it can be done by us. Once i can get this done then i got all the skills working on chevy vehicles. Engine when i was 14 and now 23 :P transmission. Happy Holidays and Great New year.
