Quick change rear ends
I haven't seen any threads on this so here's one. I bought a Frankland Quick Change rear with the idea of sticking it under the Z. After I got it home and realized how large it is I'm definetly going to cut the floor a bit. Anyone else out there try it? I havent got under the car to take measurements, but I was hoping to hear from someone who's done it. Any useful info would be helpful.

Re: Quick change rear ends
Um yeah never mind. I got underneath the car and its obvious that extensive mods are required. Not worth the BS.

Old thread, but thats not true. they can take a beating. It requires a lot of fabrication and, unfortnately, the cons outweigh the pros. Unless you do a lot of racing and drive the the track, its probably not worth it.
Pros:
Cons:
You can have most of the benefits in a 9 inch floater and weld the brackes on. Dont buy that Moser BS, its a rip off. Go to XYZ circle track supplier and order a 62 inch floater with 4.75x5 grand national hubs for around $900, get a 64 inch wide unit if you want to run vette wheels without spacers. Fab or buy a torque arm mount. Weld your brackets onto it, fab some or try to make some circle track birdcages work. Hint, its a good time to change to coilovers and a adjustable panhard bracket(change roll center) . Find a 31 spline posi pumpkin in the classified. you could probably get this all done under $1500. If you want bigger brakes, wilwood makes 13 inch rotors but thy arent cheap, throw a set of superlite 6 piston or brembo 17Z calipers (Wrecked VAG SUV) and you have something like the $4000 moser unit for half the price.
If you want to add camber look into Tiger axle housing ends and bolt on snouts. Somewhat more involved.
Or go the bolt in route...
Disclaimer: I'm unaffiliated with quick performance, they just had the easiest to find prices.
Pros:
- Strong
- Fast/inexpensive gear ratio changes
- Can easily add camber/caster to rear
- Easily chage width.
- Full floating (no caliper knock back or c-clips)
- Axle swap
- Cool AF
Cons:
- Custom Watts link requires(repaces panhard bar) due to added case length at rear cover.
- Custom fuel cell for same reason as above.
- Lack of inexpensive LSD options (wavetrack/gleason, spool or locker)
- Loud
- No bolt in options
- Costly
