HURST DUAL GATE

ok so i ve done quite a bit of searchin on this site for info about this shifter over the last week and every thread always ends up where every one starts talkin about the b&m mega shifter. So wut i want to know is if i buy this shifter from summit http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku how hard is it to install. i read in some prior threads the cable was to long but im not sure if it was for the b&m shifter they talkin bout. also how hard is it to adjust the cable at the shifter it self, i am mechaniclly inclined so i was also wonderin how long would it take me to install and if any one could post pics of there install and who did buy theres from summit and how was there experience with summit ohh by the way its going into a 88 iroc with 350 tpi swapped in with 110km and a rebuit 700r4 tranny, bout 15k with a transgo shift kit .......heres a pic HURST DUAL GATE-dsc00267.jpg

I installed the dual gate on my brothers 87 Z28. The shifter is built good....but the instructions are not very clear at all. Other than adjusting things....it's really not that hard to install.....

I have the B&M megashifter, the cable on this unit is also too long, but the directions show you how to loop it on top of your automatic out of the way, it works fine, i will assume you would do the same with the hurst model.

I see that shifter is only listed for the Camaro, Is it hard to put in a TA? I am guess it is because of the console that it is only listed for the Camaro

When I installed mine when they first came out, it used the factory cable. It sounds like that's not longer the case, though.

I have one in the box, sitting in the garage for years. IIRC, it doesn't come with a replacement cable. It uses the OEM cable that's already there.

Wow, I'm shocked they are still selling that. I've wanted one of those since I saw one in David Shelby's "Camaro Perfomance Handbook" way back when. Man that book is old LOL. I seem to recall that shifter being alot higher in price back then though.

And yes 2001GAGT, it's due to the Camaro's console.

For those that have it, is it worth it? How firm is it? Is it prone to sliding into gear easily like the slushy factory one?

I think they are great I prefer hurst over b&m though just a matter of personal preference. looks alot better than stock and the mega shi**er though. I wish they made on just like this for a turbo 350/400 so mine may be up for sale unless I buy another Camaro

hey guys just letting u know i did order it a few weeks back and just recieved it, i havent installed it yet tho due to the great old canadian winter, but from the looks of it its pretty sturdy, it does come with a replacement cable, but i think the install will go smoothly as for the shifting i think its pretty hard to miss a gear with it because u have to move it side to side to shift,, overall from the looks without installing it i think it worth every penny and cosdierin the only othe choice is b&m which i have read alot of complaints about
