700R4 acting wierd need input
Well I started my car up today and back out of my drive way to go to work. I put her into overdrive and start down the street. Its still in first and as I am going along, it just keeps climbing up the rpms. It usually shifts into second at about 1500-2000. Well it never did and went all the way to 3000-3500 and then shifted. Mind you this was at like 10-15 miles an hour. So what does it do, chirped my tires. "Wtf is wrong with my car now..." is all I can think. I get on the road and drive to work. None of the other gears did this. Get stopped at a stoplight, and it does it again as soon as I start driving again. Shifts from first to second at 3000-3500.
Then tonight as I am leaving work, it works just fine. Doesn't shift wierd, nada. So basicly all I want to know is what happened? Thanks guys!

Check the transmission fluid level first off. Other than that, the other guys on this board should help you out. I dont know much about transmissions.

Hmmmm, usually if I have low tranny fluid, my transmission will slip. But in this case, it didn't. It had power all the way up to when it shifted. It was like I was manually shifting, but I wasn't. I will still check how much transmission fluid I have. Thanks.

I had that same problem and it turned out to be a valve body sticking, which was causing it.

Once in awhile this can happen from a small piece of debris that can hang up a 1-2 shift valve or other valve. If it fixed itself, I would not worry about it. What is the condition of the fluid? Was the fluid level low?

Fluid is pretty new. Changed it out last time it went to the shop for the tailshaft housing seal to be replaced. It still has a small leak from the front of the transmission. The shop says they would have to drop the tranny though to put a new seal on. Other than that, the fluid might have been a little low. Thanks guys for the input!
