Transmissions and Drivetrain Need help with your trans? Problems with your axle?

Car: 96 SS #15
Engine: LT 1
Transmission: M6
Axle/Gears: 3.42 ZT
This will sound stupid. Correct me if I,m wrong

Are the Transmissoins in a v-6 94 Auto Camaro the same as the Third Gen V-8 Transmmissions??? I,m in the understanding that the Bellhousing's wont match up. A friend of mine is saying there the same housing. I told him he was on crack. prove me right.

Engine: 406 CI
Transmission: Pete K 700R4
Axle/Gears: 3:55
The 4.3 used the same bell as the v-8 stuff. It is a moot point anyhow. The 94 trans is an electronic version of the 700 (4l60). It will not work in a third gen without a computer to run it.

Well understood. But could you do it the other way around. Could you put a V-8 700R4 behind the 3.4??

And what about the Computer thing?? Would you have to use the third Gen Compuer for the Transmission or would the 3.4 PC run the 700R4 too??

The '94 3.4L engine is a 60 degree engine, same as the '90-'92 f-body V6. With that a SBC V8 700R4 will not bolt up to it.

The only item on the 700R4 transmission that is electrically controlled is the TCC. Don't have to have an ECM to control it. Vacuum switch works.
